WICKED, "the hugely popular musical" (The Times, 31 October 2009) that tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, has been nominated "Best West End Show" at the annual Whatsonstage.com Awards, considered to be the 'theatregoers' choice'.

The "Best West End Show" award is a new honour launched to celebrate the 10th year of the Whatsonstage.com Awards. The shortlist for this category - which applies to all current West End productions, including long-runners - has shortlisted 10 productions.
Voting closes at the end of January and all the winners, as voted by the general public, will be announced at a live event on Sunday 14 February 2010.
The international hit has now played over 1300 performances and been seen by more than two million theatregoers since its West End premiere in September 2006 at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre.
WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman and is directed by Joe Mantello. WICKED is based on the novel, Wicked - The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire. |
